# SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS IN A COOPERATIVE CLASSROOM
Coourse Content:
The “Social and Emotional Skills in a Cooperative Classroom” training course under the Erasmus+ program is designed to equip educators and teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and practical tools to create a cooperative and emotionally supportive classroom environment that fosters the development of social and emotional skills in students. The training course will adopt an interactive and participatory approach. Participants will engage in workshops, role-playing exercises, group discussions, case studies, and reflective activities. They will have the opportunity to practice and experience the techniques as both learners and facilitators. The course will also involve sharing best practices and collaborative brainstorming to develop effective strategies for implementing SEL in the classroom.
Objectives:
- Understanding the importance of social and emotional skills: Participants will explore the significance of social and emotional learning (SEL) in education and its positive impact on students’ overall well-being, academic performance, and future success.
- Identifying core social and emotional skills: The course will introduce participants to a range of essential social and emotional skills, such as empathy, self-awareness, self-regulation, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Integrating SEL into the classroom curriculum: Educators will learn how to incorporate SEL activities and practices into their teaching across different subjects, promoting the seamless integration of social and emotional skills development.
- Creating a cooperative classroom culture: Participants will discover how to establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment where cooperation, respect, and empathy are valued and practiced.
- Developing students’ self-awareness and self-regulation: The course will provide strategies to help students become more aware of their emotions, manage their behavior, and develop greater emotional resilience.
- Enhancing communication and interpersonal skills: Educators will explore techniques to improve students’ communication skills, active listening, and their ability to work collaboratively in groups.
- Nurturing empathy and understanding: Participants will learn how to cultivate empathy in students, encouraging them to understand and appreciate diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Teaching conflict resolution and problem-solving: The course will focus on equipping educators with methods to teach students effective conflict resolution strategies and problem-solving techniques.
